Khaali Peeli Review The treatment of the khali pili online hindi film takes you to the journey of that cinema of the eighties. This is realized by the scenes in the credits roll when the hero of the film grows up in a chase sequence running through the train compartments.
New Delhi, Manoj Vasistha. The closure of theaters due to the Corona virus lockdown led to many of the films being made to release OTT. One of these is Ishaan Khattar and Ananya Pandey’s film Khali-Pili, which was released on 2 October on ZeePlex on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. ‘Khali-Pili’ is a Bollywood-style typical masala entertainer with a hero, a heroine, a villain, a little dance and action.
The treatment of the hindi movie Khaali Peeli
The treatment of the hindi movie takes you to the journey of the cinema of the eighties, when all these elements were dominated. This is realized by the scenes of the credit rolls when the film’s hero suddenly grows up while running through the train compartments in a chase sequence. Seen and eighties in action dramas used to see such scenes. Do you remember the last time you saw such a scene in a film? Millennials may take a little time to think.
‘Khaali Peeli’ is a story of childhood lovers Vijay (Ishaan) and Pooja (Ananya) meeting, getting separated and reunited. Vijay has a vicious mind and a sharp mind since childhood. He drives a black-yellow taxi. It has no moral values. To strike a chance is his principle. As Mumbai films often feature street smart kids, Vijay carries on the same tradition.
During an incident, she finds Pooja, who is running away from her wedding. She hires Vijay’s taxi. In return, Vijay asks for a large sum of money, for which she is prepared. Vijay runs away with him. Pooja is followed by Yusuf (Jaideep Ahlawat). Yusuf is a pimp, who is in a business of prostitution. Another incident happens after which Tawde (Zakir Hussain), an officer of Mumbai Crime Branch, falls behind him.
The story Khaali Peeli Hindi movie is simple and can be seen …
But the screenplays of Yash Kesarwani and Seema Aggarwal made the flat story exciting. The screenplay uses flashbacks optimally, which has not reduced the entertainment dose. The innocent love story of Vijay and Pooja’s childhood comes through intermittent flashbacks.
These parts of the screenplay retain the viewer’s interest. Through the backstory, it is revealed that Vijay has an old relationship with Yusuf and he is responsible for the turmoil in his current life. Yusuf is also the real villain of Vijay and Pooja’s love story since childhood. The experiment of showing the backstory to explain it after a scene has been successful, breaking the uniformity of ’empty-yellow’ and maintaining the thrill.
This is Shahid Kapoor’s Half Brother Ishaan Khattar’s third hindi movie. As a lead actor, he made his film debut with Iranian director Majid Majidi’s film Beyond the Clouds. Ishaan had expressed from this movie that the acting is in his veins. The second film was ‘Dhadak’, which was the official remake of the Marathi hit ‘Sairat’. In this film, he played the role of an innocent lover of small town. Empty-yellow, Ishaan introduces the hero of Hindi cinema, for which Bollywood is famous worldwide.
Ishaan plays Vijay’s character successfully. He has caught the street smart boys’ Mumbai accent very closely. Words like ‘Ragratan’ tickle. Actually, the title of the film ‘Khaali Peeli’ also came from the same Mumbai slang.
A closer look at Mumbai would know that in common parlance, empty yellow means meaningless or without talking. Director Maqbool Khan made this signature style of Mumbai language the title of his hindi movie. One of the reasons for having the title ‘Khaali Peeli’ is that it sounds like black-yellow, which has been an identity of Mumbai like sea and stars.
Before the start of the app based taxi services of private companies, these black-yellow taxi coins used to run on the routes of Mumbai. In the ’empty yellow’ this black and yellow yellow fills the color of adventure.
Pooja Ananya Pandey’s ‘Khaali Peeli’ is also the third release. He made his Bollywood debut with ‘Students of the Year’. In this hindi film, Ananya likes Pooja’s character and together with Ishaan, did not let ‘Khaali Peeli’ wander on the highway of entertainment. Swanand Kirkire is the surprise of the film. Swanand plays the role of a middle-aged rich man who runs business under the guise of business. He wants to marry Pooja many years younger than him. It is astonishing to see the finest lyricist Swanand acting in this character and also arouses interest.
Jaideep Ahlawat is an excellent actor and playing this character was not challenging at all. Anoop Sony has not got much screen time, but seems to be fine as long as they come. Satish Kaushik’s special appearence is a comedy. Vedanta Desai and Deshna Dugad, both child actors of Khali-Pili, have contributed to stabilizing the characters of Vijay i.e. Blackie and Pooja. Deshna played Chhoti Zafira (later Fatima Sana Shaikh) in Aamir Khan’s ‘Thugs of Hindostan’.
The best part of the music in hindi movie ‘Khaali Peeli’ is that it does not disrupt the screenplay anywhere
There are only three songs, which are situational. The ‘tahs-nahs’ playing in the background are influenced, voiced by Shekhar Ravjiani (Vishal-Shekhar) and Prakriti Kakkar. After the controversy, the word Beyonce has been removed from the song ‘Duniya Sharama Jayegi’. The background score of Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara accelerates the exciting journey of ’empty-yellow’.
Editing of Rameshwar Bhagat is stylish. In particular, the scene in which Vijay is negotiating with Joseph’s man in exchange for handing over the puja is affected. In this scene, the montage created by combining scenes of a moving and a stopped taxi draws attention.
Director Maqbool Khan has used all the departments of the hindi movie properly. Despite the lack of newness in the story, the idea of presenting it attracts. ‘Khaali Peeli‘ gives a feel of the spice films of the eighties, but its drama has not allowed the exaggeration that used to be the specialty of that period and looks ridiculous to today’s audience.
